Vindima/Grape Harvest Saturdays!
Saturday September 21st and 28th
Each Vindima Saturday will start with the picking in the morning when the air is cooler. Children can help, run and play, an be part of the action! This special afternoon for families with children will include giving the kids an opportunity to participate in every step of the grape juice making process and take home a bottle of their own!
After the picking has concluded for the morning, we will share a casual lunch* where workers, visitors and neighbors come together to share a meal and rest.
After lunch we will have several activities for visiting families:
-- Some time to rest, play in the pool or river or take a guided walk around the farm to see the the cows, horse, geese, chickens etc.
-- Afterwards we will gather the grapes and begin the juice making process by having the children stomp the grapes!
-- Next we will load the smashed grapes into a small press and start turning..
-- Children can help with every aspect, tightening the press, collecting the juice, filling the bottles and putting on the tops- and in the end everyone will have a bottleof juice to take home and enjoy!
*Lunch will with prepared from organic ingredients (local to the extent possible) and include vegetarian options
Flavors and Traditions of Lafões!
Each Vindima Saturday will start with the grape picking in the morning when the air is cooler. Once we have concluded the morning's work we will gather for a casual lunch* where visitors, workers and neighbors gather to share a meal and enjoy the break! Afterwards we will provide a special program for visitors including:
-- Traditional demonstration and music by performers from the region
-- Followed by a guided tour of the farm to see the cows, geese and grounds as well as the adega to see where and how the wine is made
-- Afterward we will return to the patio for a tasting of wines, olives, honey, breads and other specialties, all from the Lafões region.
Price: €25 per person (€15 for those that stay at Quinta da Comenda)
*Lunch will be prepared from organic ingredients (local to the extent possible) and vegetarian options will be available
